Go out for the
AMS Reading Team!!
Students on our campus are invited to become members of the AMS Reading Team. Each grade level has a list of requirements they must meet in order to become members of this cool group. You will find these requirements listed below. These requirements are intended to encourage students to experience a wide variety of literature and to maintain high standards for themselves. Once a member of the team, students receive a Reading Team shirt and a certificate. They will be invited to attend the Reading Team party at the end of the school year.
The deadline for making the AMS Reading Team is May 2, 2008.

Texas Bluebonnet Award
Our campus participates in the Texas Bluebonnet Award program. This program is sponsored by the Texas Library Association. Each year, 20 books are nominated for this prestigious award. Texas students in grades 3-6 who attend participating schools and successfully read 5 of the nominees are invited to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet nominee in January. The book with the most votes from the students becomes the statewide Bluebonnet winner for that year. It is a really neat chance for students to make their voices heard!
Students who read a minimum of 15 will receive an extra incentive, to be announced at a later date. Some students are even striving to finish all 20 by the deadline... AWESOME!
At AMS, the deadline for reading this year's nominees is January 10th.
Voting will be held on January 24th.

Other Programs:
In addition to the Reading Team and Bluebonnet programs, we also host an Accelerated Reader store twice a year where students are allowed to buy a variety of neat items using the AR points they have earned. We also post student names on the Wall of Fame each time they reach a new AR point goal. This allows students to not only track their own success, but also to applaud the success of their classmates.
