Learning Stations in Our Classroom

The best way for kindergarten children to learn is through interaction and learning to work with cooperatively with our peers. My classroom is set up in active work stations. I carefully plan the materials at each work station to develop skills and meet the needs of the children in my class.  These are some of our work stations and some of the many skills that children develop as they work at each station.

We have learned how to read the chart to see where we work each day. 

We can select a book to read and then sit with Clifford in the reading tub and enjoy reading together.   My students get very excited when they can actually find words they recognize and read.

There are many social and communication skills to learn in the housekeeping center. 

The listening center is a good way to enjoy books and learn about both factual and fictional stories.

A special part of our day is the calendar.  We learn sequencing of numbers, days of the week, and months of the year.  Also, such terms as yesterday, today, tomorrow, week, odd, even, and the list goes on. 

If you are into construction or creating, the block center is a must.  You can build whatever your imagination desires. 

The art center lets your artistic talent immerge. We painted hearts for Valentine's Day.

The stop sign is our behavior chart.  We want to stay on green all day!
