Possible Signs of Depression  
 
 

From the National Institute of Mental Health

Crying, feeling sad, helpless, hopeless, discouraged or worthless

Loss of interest or pleasure in others or most activities

Fatigue and loss of energy nearly every day

Bad temper, irritable, easily annoyed

Fearful, tense, anxious

Withdrawal from family, friends, peers

Repeated physical complaints without a medical cause

Significant increase or decrease in appetite not due to dieting

Sudden initiation of alcohol or other drugs

 Serious Signs:

Suicidal thoughts

Abuse of alcohol or other drugs

Symptoms of depression combined with strange and unusual behavior

What Can You Do:

ACT
 

Acknowledge there is a problem and that the person needs help

Care, let them know that you care about them

Talk to and tell a trusted adult, get professional help
