Student Alternative Center   (SAC)

Mission Statement:

book.gif (3638 bytes)The Student Alternative Center (SAC) will provide an educational environment that is disciplined and individualized.  Students regularly assigned to Angleton ISD campuses, who are eligible by program criteria, will be considered by the Administrative Committee for admission.  The SAC will be available as an Alternative Education Program for disciplinary removals as contemplated under the Education Code.  Also, in an appropriate case, agreed placement into SAC may be offered to a student who is otherwise being recommended for expulsion.

The students accepted into the alternative program will be withdrawn from the home campus and enrolled at SAC.  The students will be given the opportunity to maintain their academic status in lieu of expulsion or dropping out of school.  Program components will include parental involvement and counseling designed to address the specific needs of those students, so that they may return to the regular school program.

Because of the unique structure of the Student Alternative Center, there are special procedures and guidelines that must be adhered to by students and parents.  Students attending SAC are not allowed to attend any AISD sponsored activities or extracurricular events.
