Every week our class takes a field trip.  We alternate going to Kroger's every other week where we practice communicating, budgeting and planning in the community; preparing a shopping list, using coupons, bargain shopping, and staying within a budget.  We then bring our groceries to class where we organize the food, plan, prepare and serve meals.    
    Our class spends the alternating week out in the community where we practice and apply all that we have learned in the class physically in the community.  We do this during 5th and 6th periods on Thursdays.  We will have our first Kroger trip on August 31st.  The following Thursday we will be going to the Lake Jackson Sea Center.  We will alternate trips, with our Kroger trip being every other Thursday and another community trip being on the alternate Thursday. 
    On "Pay Day" (Fridays), we make decisions on how we wish to spend our pay on recreational events that are offered, such as: a movie, popcorn, wholesome treats that have been made in class, or music time.  
    We often practice what to do on job breaks during Recreation & Leisure class.  We spend 15 minutes, a normal break time, practicing how to break and when to know it's time to return to work (our vocational centers).

    We work on all the skills that are necessary to live and opporate in the real world. We are blessed to be in a school district with administrators and staff that support our vision.
