W E L C O M E  To Our Class

This 2006-2007 school year is the second year of change for our high school living skills prevocational program.  Where students have an opportunity to "work" at different job skills to prepare them for their future.  Students clock in on a time clock, and are "paid" with "money" on Fridays based on the quality and quantity of their work throughout the week. They are able to spend their "pay" on movie tickets and rewards.

Students in living skills can stay in the program until the age of 22.  Our class goal is to prepare our students to be able to live and work as independently as they are physically able.
We help prepare and educate our students in the following areas: Adult Daily Living, which helps prepare students to be a viable addition to society through independent preparation of daily living skills. This class takes bi-weekly trips to Kroger's where we shop for our class's needs, and prepare meals for ourselves, our class, and our parents at different times throughout the year.  Personal Health & Hygiene, helps our students to learn proper ways to care for and maintain basic health and hygiene skills that may be taken for granted. Communication and Social Skills help prepare our students for community interaction and job preparation skills. Living Skills Reading and Math are functional, vocational classes that teach our students to function in the real world by practicing functional worldly signs needed in daily life, and learning to use money in functional situations that occur daily in life, such as shopping for food. Pre vocation teaches job skills that are matched to the student's desires and abilities.  Recreation and Leisure teaches our students how to have clean appropriate fun and relaxation, as well as how and what to do on job breaks.
