Technology Best Practices
Liz Fambrough has brought technology to a new level in her classroom. With the availability of a presentation station in her classroom, the Westside Elementary third grade of Mrs. Liz Fambrough is reviewing for the Math TAKS with a series of PowerPoint presentations. Everyday during her Math tutorials, she reviews the TAKS-ercise slide show of basic math skills and strategies. A student is selected to run the teacher's computer during the presentation. The overall goal is to have everyone above 80 for the TAKS. Also, for reinforcement flashcards of each slide are used on an individual basis. "Already there has been an overall improvement in the math benchmarks," states Mrs. Fambrough. What do the students think of this method of teaching? Daquitsha remarks, "I think it has helped me!" While Jaime states, "It has been helping people on their benchmark test, and we've learned a lot. And it made it easier." Dezmond clarifies, "It will make us get ready for TAKS." "I think it's gonna help us with the TAKS test, and it is fun," comments Liberty. This is just one use of technology in the classroom.
