Special Notes Of Interest
What is a fever? If your child has an oral temperature of 99.5 or higher, then it is considered a fever. Do not send your child to school with a fever. Please make sure your child is fever free without any fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before sending to school. This will decrease the infection rate at school.
The best thing to decrease germs and illness in elementary school children is good handwashing technique. If you teach your child the proper way to wash hands (rubbing hands together with soap and water for 20 seconds), it will greatly diminish the spread of germs.

Teach your child the proper way to sneeze/cough. Teach them to sneeze/cough in their elbow or a tissue to keep germs out of the air. Do not tell them to sneeze/cough in their hands. Little hands touch everything in a classroom and spread germs.
Individual water bottles with a spout are allowed in all classrooms. This is a better choice than using the water fountains and will decrease exposure to germs.

When sending medication to school, please send it in the original container and a note with it. This allows the nurse to administer the med to your child. |
