Interactive Power Point (Level IV)

PowerPoint contains many useful features for adding interactivity to your presentations, and it can add interest. Participants will make an interactive slideshow using video capabilities of a digital camera. Two easy types of interactivity that can be included into any PowerPoint presentation are navigation and feedback. For navigation, participants will use onscreen buttons and text for a branching structure, allowing the user to visit the sections as they wish or to provide the option to gain more information on topics of interest. For feedback, slides will present questions and offer choices of answers. PowerPoint slides are a useful means of introducing new information to students. However, they can also be utilized to allow students to make choices, test knowledge, and give immediate feedback. To make a presentation interactive, you must first develop a plan. The purpose of this presentation is to test knowledge hence a feedback slide will be created. The feedback slide will be hyperlinked. To make the presentation more entertaining, a video clip of the teacher will be inserted with sound. If you have started your Advanced and have not completed, this class will substitute for Advanced V.

Across the grades and across the curriculum, teachers treasure the value of timelines. What an impressive way to teach Graphic Organization. And all the timeline resources you'll need are right at your fingertips! You will use a variety of information resources to synthesize, create, and communicate ideas on a timeline. Timelines can become an engaging activity for students as they choose from different units of measure (date, time, event, entry, or other) and add specific descriptions of each entry. This is a handy tool for classroom use that guides students through the process of organizing information in timeline form and results in a polished finished product. A timeline can be a useful way to visualize changes or events that occur over periods of time. Common uses for timelines will be discussed such as chronologically arrange past events, represent a person’s life history, or map historical events and time periods.

There are many different definitions of "digital storytelling," but in general, all of them revolve around the idea of combining the longstanding art of telling stories with any of a variety of available multimedia tools, including graphics, audio, video, animation, and Web publishing.
