STATE TESTING PROGRAM

Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS)

Students in grades 3 through 11 are required to take the TAKS test each year.  The purpose of the testing program is to provide an accurate measure of student achievement in the core curriculum.  The AISD teachers and staff use the TAKS data to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and teaching strategies to determine how to best educate our students.

Students are required to pass the third grade Reading TAKS in order to be promoted to the fourth grade.  Students in grade five must pass the reading and math to be promoted to the sixth grade.  Eleventh grade students are required to pass all portions of the exit-level TAKS before they can graduate from high school.

For more information about your child's performance on the TAKS, please call the school counselor at your campus.
