Big Love is pouring in from AMS students. Big Love is pouring in from AMS students. In honor of Brooke Phillips and the Phillips family, the Youth Alive group from Angleton Middle School has sponsored a Valentine's Christmas for the Texas Children's Hospital patients. Students have brought in completed baskets as well as little bits of candy, stuffed animals, games, baby dolls, toys, coloring books and just tons of gifts to make Valentine baskets for the cancer children. Mrs. Green, the sponsor of Youth Alive, is a cousin by marriage to the Phillip's family. She and her daughter Katie learned of the Valentine basket project through Jessica (Brooke's mom). Mrs. Green shared it with her students, many of whom have lost loved ones to cancer in the last year, and they wanted to be a part of the project as well. Jessica had already received 50 baskets from her www.carepages.com . Now, she will have another 100 plus baskets to deliver on Valentine's Day to these children. "The response from students has been overwhelming, and most importantly full of "Big Love", which is the very message Brooke left with us."
Another project that A M S Running Club is planning will also honor our cancer friends and family. On May 4th we will have the AMS "Big Love" Ralk. Students will be Running/Walking in honor of loved ones they have lost to cancer or for those fighting the battle now. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life which begins that night. Sponsors and community participants are welcome. Forms are available at AMS or you may contact pgreen@angletonisd.net or sarauz@angletonisd.net for more information. |
