January 19, 2006
The Angleton Independent School District is considering applying for a Texas Education Agency waiver regarding the date for the first day of instruction for 2006-2007. This waiver would allow Angleton Independent School District to start school before the week in which August 21st falls. Under the waiver, the district would begin instruction for students on August 8, 2006. A public hearing concerning the date for the first day of instruction will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the boardroom of the Angleton ISD Administration Building.
The public is reminded that the proposed August 8, 2006 start date is similar to this year's school calendar and does not represent any major variation in the instructional system of AISD. The proposed calendar includes holidays requested by the community such as: Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday and Memorial Day. The proposed calendar also includes a full week for Thanksgiving, a Christmas break which begins on December 18 and ends January 3, and includes a full week for Spring Break.
