Things to Know

"What to do if . . ."

I'm late to school?

  • If you are only a few minutes late, go to the cafeteria or to the A building to the tardy stations set up and recieve a tardy pass.
  • If you are very late, then you need to sign in at the Attendance office.
  • Remember that you are allowed two free tardies.  Once you receive a third tardy, you will be referred to the Assistant Principal's office for discipline.

I am late to a class other than 1st period?

  • Each team will be handling tardies to classes other than 1st period, so report straight to class.  Remember that if you get several tardies, you will be disciplined.

I forgot my lunch?

  • Parents may drop off lunches in the front office.  They will be delivered to the students before their lunch time.  Parents delivering fast food must meet their student outsides the cafeteria.  We will not deliver fast food to a classroom.
  • You are only allowed to charge in the cafeteria.  These charges need to be cleared the next day.

I have a doctor's appointment during school hours?

  • If your appointment is early in the day and you are arriving to school late or returning after your appointment, sign in at the attendance office and leave the note from your doctor.
  • If someone will be picking you up during the day, you need to bring a note to the attendance office before school.  The note should include your full name, grade, and who will be picking you up at what time.  We will write you a pass so that you can be waiting in the attendance office when your ride arrives.  Be sure to get a note from the doctor and bring it to the attendance office when you return to school.
  • REMEMBER THAT ONLY PEOPLE ON YOUR EMERGENCY CARD ARE ALLOWED TO CHECK YOU OUT OF SCHOOL.

I need to leave school early for another reason?

When possible, you need to bring a note to the attendance office before school.  The note must include the current date, your name, grade, why you are leaving, what time you are leaving, and who will be picking you up.  Again  only people on your emergency card will be allowed to take you out of school.

Parents  we will not call your student out of class early unless we have a note from you before school.  If you do not send a note, we will wait until you arrive in the attendance office to send for your student.

ANYONE CHECKING OUT A STUDENT MUST BRING A PHOTO ID (Driver's License) TO THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE.

Remember to bring a note to the Attendance Office when you return to school  even if a parent signed you out!  All absences must be documented on paper.

Remember that in Intermediate School and High School, attendance is taken by class period.  If you miss even one class period, you no longer have perfect attendance.

If you miss more than 20 minutes of a class, you are considered absent.

I was absent?

  • Bring a note from your parent to the Attendance Office before school on the first day you return.  The note should include the following information:

current date, student's full name and grade, what day(s) you were absent, why you were absent, parent signature, a phone number where we can reach your parent during the day

  • Students have 2 school days to turn in notes regarding absences.  After 2 days the absence will be considered unexcused.
  • Again  remember that attendance is collected every class period in Intermediate & High School.  You need a note even if you only miss part of the school day.

My locker won't open?

  • Tell one of your team teachers or find a counselor, Assistant Principal, or custodian in the hallway.

I forgot my ID?

  • Buy a temporary ID for $1.00.  You can get these in the cafeteria until 7:30am or in the hallway between 7:40 and 7:50 am.  YOU CANNOT GO TO CLASS WITHOUT AN ID.  These IDs are only good for the day they are issued.

I lost my ID?

  • You will need to purchase a new ID for $5.00.

I need to use the phone?

  • You need to go to the Counselor or Assistant Principal's Office.  NEVER USE A CELL PHONE DURING THE SCHOOL DAY!

I am lost?

  • Find a Counselor or Assistant Principal.  They will be in the hallways between classes.  If you can't find them in the hallways, go to their offices.

I am having a problem with another student or need to talk to a counselor about a personal problem?

  • You can sign up to see a counselor in the Counselor's Office.  She will call you in as soon as possible.

I have medication I need to take at school? (prescription & over-the-counter)

  • All medication must be taken directly to the nurse's office upon arriving at school.  Under no circumstances should you keep medication with you during the school day.  Possessing medication during the school day may result in placement at SAC.
  • The medicine must be in its original bottle with the student's name on the bottle.  Prescription medications must be in a prescription bottle that includes the student's name and the dosing information.
  • Over-the-counter medications will only be given to students if it is brought from home.
  • Remember to go by the Nurse's Office at whatever time you are supposed to take your medication.  Students who forget to come will be sent a pass from the nurse.

I've lost or found something?

  • Lost and found is in the Assistant Principal's Office.
  • All textbooks should be turned into Mrs. Matt's office.
  • Remember that if you find something, you are REQUIRED TO TURN IT IN.  Keeping it is considered stealing.
  • Lost and found items will be discarded at the end of each semester.

I had something stolen?

  • File a Crimestoppers report in the Assistant Principal's Office.  Remember to let us know if that item shows up.

I witnessed someone doing something they should not have?

  • Immediately report this information to your Assistant Principal or Counselor.  Remember that not reporting the information makes you just as guilty as the person who did something wrong.

I get to school and realize I am in possession something not allowed at school?

  • Go IMMEDIATELY to your Assistant Principal.  "Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200."
