| History of Westside Elementary
"Westside Elementary, Dedicated to the Children of Angleton", reads the plaque at the entrance of the school. "Westside is a Great Place to Learn" is woven into the mat at the front door. This is the true spirit of the school located at 300 S. Walker, Angleton, Texas.
Built in 1965, Westside Elementary School replaced the Old Central Elementary School. Extensive renovations and a new Third Grade Wing were completed in 1984. On January 20, 1989, two Magnolia trees were planted on either side of the flagpole by Westside's Webelos Pack 519. Later, one of the trees was replaced by an Oak tree. Another Oak tree, located to the south of the Special Education Building, was donated by Dow and planted by the Fourth Grade students in conjunction with Earth Day of that year.
